The financials for November were removed from the table and subsequently approved. The December financials were then discussed, with the treasurer confirming their accuracy.
The upcoming Calendar of Events, set to be featured in the February issue of the Senior Moments Newsletter, was reviewed. In addition to the regular weekly classes such as yoga, bone builders, and line dancing, the calendar will highlight a variety of activities including support groups, movie showings, and workshops. It was also noted that Monday, February 17th, is a holiday, and both the Center and other municipal buildings will be closed.
Director Jan Conole gave her report of happenings and events. She highlighted the first annual Speed Dating event, scheduled for Friday, February 14th at 9:30 a.m. This event is being hosted in collaboration with the senior centers of Chelmsford, Andover, and North Andover. Additionally, At Home Hearing will continue to visit monthly, offering hearing assessments and cleaning hearing aids—interested individuals can contact the center for dates and times.
She noted, that their newsletter will also feature information on upcoming trips scheduled for March and April. The transportation program has seen significant growth, with all three vans now in use daily. A reminder was given that thanks to a grant from the LRTA, rides are completely free for everyone and are expected to continue through September 2025.
Be on the lookout for movie cameras in the center. Jan shared that the Senior Center will soon be the focus of a video project, with the Media Department, led by Brian Dorrington, filming activities to better showcase the wide range of programs available to the community.
Lastly, the FY2026 budget is set to be presented to the Finance Committee during the first week of February.
Jan then introduced Lily Foss from CTI, who brought valuable insights into the new Fair Housing Laws. Lilly runs an information table in the atrium, where attendees can learn more about topics such as home modifications and how Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) function within the community. You can learn about Community Teamwork’s Fair Housing Program at Request Assistance – Community Teamwork or call 978-654-5637.
