Tewksbury Council on Aging is hosting a Free Estate Planning Seminar on June 12, 2025.
Tewksbury, MA — On Thursday, June 12, 2025, Tewksbury’s Council on Aging will offer a free asset protection presentation by Certified Elder Law Attorneys Patrick Curley and Lucy Budman of Curley Law Firm LLP.
Entitled “Estate Plan Survival Kit – What you need to protect your family, your assets, and your independence as you age”, the presentation will take place at the Tewksbury Council on Aging, 175 Chandler Street, Tewksbury, MA, at 10:00 a.m. and is open to the public.
“I am finding that older adults are very concerned about how the changes coming out of Washington, D.C. may impact them and their nest egg, especially if they get sick in the future,” said Attorney Curley. “Our goal is for attendees to learn concrete steps they can use to protect themselves and their home and savings against these risks.”
The presentation is offered in connection with the 2025 Elder Law Education Program, which is sponsored by the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) with support from the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (MassNAELA).
The MBA publication “2025 Elder Law Education Guide” is available to all members of the public to read or download for free online at http://www.massbar.org/elderlaw. At the invitation of the MBA and MassNAELA, Attorney Curley serves as a contributing author to this publication each year.
Attorneys Curley and Budman will share with attendees the strategies they can use to better protect themselves and their family, their home and savings, and their ongoing independence. The presentation will address (1) steps to help shield their home and savings against long-term care risks (2) how to avoid Guardianship, Conservatorship, and Probate; (3) the pros and cons of Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts; (4) recent Estate Tax law changes in MA; and, (5) peace of mind planning to be prepared for ‘what if’ scenarios including nursing home care.
