December Holiday Happenings at the Senior Center
Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Donna Bell at 3:05pm. Members in attendance were Robert Herrick, Tracy Skahan, Sandra Creamer, Kathleen Walsh, Mary-Ann Nichols, Jeff Dufour, Joan Unger and Virginia Desmond. Michael McDermott and Joanne Aldrich were absent.
Meeting minutes of October 21st, 2025 and the October end-of-month financials were discussed and unanimously approved on a voice vote.
Director Jan Conole presented the Center’s December calendar. Highlights include the Consignment Boutique Intake on Monday, December 1st. Representative Tram Nguyen will hold office hours on Thursday, December 4th. Please note that there will be no BINGO in December due to the GAC Christmas Party on December 9th. The Friends of the Elderly will host their Christmas Party on Friday, December 12th. Don’t forget the Community Winter Market on Thursday, December 18th. On December 19th, the LGBTQ+ group will gather for a festive “Ball Fest,” featuring a variety of savory meatballs.
The December edition of the Senior Moments newsletter lists many additional events and support group meetings. Please be sure to check for early holiday closings for Christmas and New Year’s.
Additionally, Director Conole reported that the MCOA conference she attended was “very informative,” and that she returned with “lots of great ideas for new and exciting programming and resources.” The Elks dinner was also a tremendous success, featuring numerous raffles and Market Basket gift cards, with attendees praising the meal.
Open enrollment for Medicare ends on December 7th, and the dedicated SHINE counselors have been extremely busy with appointments. This year, 42 individuals received their COVID or flu vaccines, thanks to the efforts of Letourneau Pharmacy and the senior center interns.
There will be NO meeting in December. Next meeting is scheduled on January 20, 2026.
Reminder: Town Offices will be closing at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26th. The offices will be closed Thursday and Friday November 27 & 28th in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.
