James Harmon & Joan Unger Support James Mackey for Reelection to Select Board

Mackey’s work on DPW resulted in ‘saving the town $8,000,000 in construction costs’

Dear Fellow Residents,

We would like to endorse James F. Mackey III for a position on the Tewksbury Select Board.  James is an incumbent on the Select Board and has demonstrated that he is well qualified for the job. James has been on the Select Board for three years and has demonstrated his ability to work with the Town Manager and department heads at Town Hall.

When he first started working on the board, James spent many hours learning the ropes. He has a strong work ethic and believes it is more important to get a job done than spend time at various photo ops.

He is very systematic when given a problem. For example, when addressing the problems with the DPW garage, he visited the garage  and determined that it was structurally sound. Rather than tearing down the existing garage and building a new one, he proposed modifications to the storage area of the station, but not tearing it down. Then a new building for administration and office space will be built adjacent to the existing garage. This addresses the problems while saving the town $8,000,000 in construction costs.

He has spent much time and effort bringing our water system up to date. We need someone like James to bring the town up to date.

He is also working to help the elderly and veterans take advantage of different programs that are available to them. We need James to look out for the interests of the elderly and the veterans.

While putting in new sidewalks, he has suggested using granite curbing rather than asphalt. This will be cheaper for the town in the long run.  The granite should last around a hundred years versus three years for the asphalt, which would be damaged by the snowplows in the winter.

James spent 13 years in the army specializing in cyber security.  As a civilian, he was a Senior Director at Smith & Nephew, a global medical device company where he was a director of global security operations.  More recently he has started his own cyber security company. He is working hard to implement cyber security for Tewksbury government offices. We need someone with experience and drive.

Please vote for James Mackey for the Tewksbury Select Board.

Sincerely,
James Harmon & Joan Unger
