Longtime superintendent of Tewksbury Public Schools, honored with the NEASC Trustees Award for Distinguished Service.
(Lowell, Mass.) — The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) recently recognized Chris McGrath, retired director of support services for the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents and longtime Tewksbury Public Schools superintendent, with the Trustees Award for Distinguished Service to NEASC.
“Chris has a long history of service to NEASC and is a champion for continuous school improvement,” NEASC President Cameron Staples said. “She has always been a strong voice for public education, and we are grateful to her for sharing her expertise and insight with NEASC and our schools around the globe.”
McGrath is a former member of the NEASC Board of Trustees and was also a member of the NEASC Commission on International Education. Prior to joining MASS, McGrath served as the superintendent of the Tewksbury Public Schools in Massachusetts for 19 years.
“I have always believed in the mission of NEASC and the value of accreditation in school improvement,” McGrath said. “I am grateful for this award and for the opportunity to serve with NEASC to advance high-quality learning.”
The Trustees Award is given to an individual in recognition of significant commitment and impact in support of NEASC’s mission to assess, support, and promote high-quality education for all students through accreditation, professional assistance, and pursuit of best practices. Recipients demonstrate leadership qualities and achievements that have been central to the continuous growth and improvement of the work of NEASC and its commissions and the promotion of excellence in education.
