Three municipal professionals have been announced as finalists for the position of Tewksbury town manager. Current town manager Richard Montuori, who has held the position for fourteen years, announced his intention to retire in May. A screening committee was appointed by the select board to review applicants for Montuori’s replacement. This will be Tewksbury’s third town manager since the position was created in the 1990s.
Finalists will be interviewed by the select board on Wednesday, October 9 at 5:00 PM.
Kevin Harutunian is currently Town Administrator in Topsfield, a position he has held since 2019. Previously, he served as Chief of Staff to Beverly Mayor Michael Cahill and has experience in commercial real estate management in the private sector. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Saint Michael’s College and an MBA from Boston College.
John Curran most recently served as Town Manager in Billerica starting in 2010. Prior to that, Curran was Town Administrator in Maynard and Mayor of Woburn. Curran holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston College and a master’s degree in public administration from UMass Boston.
Kelly Axtell is Deputy Town Manager in Lexington and has held the role since 2017. Previously, she served as the town’s assistant director of senior services and worked in marketing and communications in the private sector. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human services from the University of Hartford and an MBA from Brandeis University.
