FY25 BUDGET SIGNED INTO LAW

2025 State Budget approval and how it will impact Tewksbury projects!

BOSTON – State Senator Barry Finegold, State Representatives Tram Nguyen, Dave Robertson, and Vanna Howard are pleased to announce that the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget has been signed by Governor Healey. The $58 billion budget maintains fiscal responsibility while making critical investments in schools, healthcare, and transportation, with $600,000 in funding being allocated directly to community projects in Tewksbury.

Secured by Senator Finegold, Representative Nguyen, Representative Robertson, and Representative Howard this budget funds projects in Tewksbury including:
● $50,000 – Restoration and improvement to the Tewksbury youth baseball fields
● $50,000 – Drainage improvements in Tewksbury
● $500,000 – Tewksbury Police & Fire for responses to the State Hospital

This budget also allows Tewksbury hospital to maintain the same number of beds in fiscal year 2025 as was maintained in fiscal year 2024.

“The FY25 budget is reflective of our state’s good values of balancing financial accountability with thoughtful investment,” said State Senator Barry Finegold (D-Andover). “This budget bolsters Massachusetts’ resilience by funding initiatives from education to natural disaster relief to community projects. I am grateful for the unwavering partnership from the Tewksbury state delegation, who remain committed to securing resources for our community.”

The FY25 budget makes historic investments in our students, including free community college for all residents, an increase in minimum Chapter 70 aid from $30 to $104, and permanently establishing the COVID-era Commonwealth Cares for Children (C3) grant program.

“The $58 Billion FY25 Budget delivers meaningful investments in areas of high-quality education, equitable health care, food security, housing stability, local aid and workforce development, and affordable and reliable public transportation, to better support Massachusetts students and families,” said Rep. Vanna Howard (D-Lowell). “I want to thank Speaker Ronald Mariano, House Ways & Means Chairman Aaron Michlewitz, Senate President Karen Spilka and Senate Ways & Means Chairman Michael Rodrigues, and my colleagues in the House, along with Senate colleagues, for their steadfast commitment and critical input throughout this process, a collective effort that has helped to produce a strong and responsible FY25 budget.”

This budget prioritizes healthcare by making record investments in MassHealth, in services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and in nursing facility Medicaid rates. This budget also provides historic funding for Regional Transit Authorities across the state to establish fare-free services.

“This budget responds to the needs of our residents and working families, with a focus on bolstering funding for vital programs and making our economy more competitive, equitable, and resilient,” said Representative Tram T. Nguyen (D-Andover). “This was a team effort—with funding for drainage improvements and the restoration of our youth baseball fields, we are investing in both infrastructure and recreational opportunities for our residents.”

“These earmarks represent an investment in both our youth, fixing dated infrastructure, and allows our first responders to stay fully staffed with updated equipment,” said Representative Dave Robertson. “I would like to particularly thank our Town Manager Richard Montuori, as well as the board of Tewksbury Youth Baseball for being partners with my office and the rest of the delegation throughout the budget process.”

Given everything that’s been going on of late, I would rather see that first 50K going toward our water issues and all things ‘infrastructure ‘ beyond just drainage. IMO, sports
related improvements/issues are secondary as they don’t affect ALL residents and have often been addressed using CPA funds which I feel is more appropriate.
