Janeczak Will Focus On Water Supply, Unhoused Population

Candidate for two-year Board of Health seat holds criminal justice degree with minor in sociology

Christine Janeczak is the sole candidate for a two-year unfilled term on the Tewksbury Board of Health. You can hear from Board of Health candidates on Thursday night at the Crier & Carnation Candidates Forum.

Carnation: Why do you want to serve on the Board of Health?

Christine Janeczak: I have a vested interest in the health and safety of my community.

TC: Give us a brief bio: Where you grew up, family, interests.

CJ: I was born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts; the daughter of immigrant parents. I am the proud parent of two sons ages 23 and 18. Some of my interests include walking, music of all genres, and spending time with friends and family.

TC: What is your education?

CJ: I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Salem State College with a minor in Sociology.

TC: What is your “day job,” and how do your past or current professional experiences prepare you for service on the BoH?

CJ: Currently I hold a management position with the U.S. Department of the Treasury. I feel that my extensive background with many different types of people has given me the tools for effective communication.

TC: If elected, what do you hope to accomplish in the next three years? What is your platform? (feel free to include a link to your website or Facebook page)

CJ: I hope to treat the citizens and businesses in town, fairly, accurately and swiftly. I am concerned with the health and safety of everyone.

TC: What are the top three health-related issues you see in town, and how will you address them?

CJ: To ensure the quality of the town’s water supply. To find suitable solutions for the unhoused, and to preserve the quality of life for all residents.

TC: Do you support the proposal to assign letter grades to Tewksbury restaurants? Why or why not?

CJ: I do support assigning letter grades to restaurants because I feel it is a way to ensure a high standard of quality.

TC: What else would you like to say to residents to encourage them to vote for you?

CJ: I am a proactive person committed to serving my community to the best of my ability.
