Public is invited to attend and submit questions
The Carnation and the Tewksbury Town Crier will host a series of Candidate Forums at Tewksbury Town Hall on Wednesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 28, 2024 starting at 6:00 p.m. Candidates for all local races have been invited to participate, and the events will be simulcast and posted for later viewing by Tewksbury Telemedia on the TewksburyTV YouTube and public access channels.
TMHS student Jason Morris and Wilmington Apple editor Robert Hayes will moderate.
For the two open Select Board seats, incumbent James Mackey is joined by Tom Bowley, Jomarie Buckley and Eric Ryder.
For Tewksbury School Committee, incumbent Bridget Garabedian as well as Collin McNaught and Chris Moncada are vying for two seats.
Incumbents Vinny Fratalia and John Deputat are running unopposed for their Planning Board and Housing Authority seats, respectively. George Ferdinand and Chris Janeczak are running unopposed for the Board of Health.
One newcomer, Robert Hutchins, is running unopposed for a seat on the Shawsheen Regional Technical High School Committee. Also running unopposed are Board of Library Trustees incumbents Chris Castiglione and Bonnie Page.
Some of these candidates are running for the first time, while others have previously run or held office. This forum series is meant to allow them to speak directly to voters. Wednesday’s forum will be moderated by Jason Morris and feature Tewksbury School Committee, Shawsheen Tech School Committee and Board of Library Trustees candidates.
On Thursday, Robert Hayes will moderate questions for Select Board, Planning Board, Board of Health and Housing Authority candidates.
Due to occupancy limitations at Town Hall, spectators who are not guests of candidates will be limited to 25 per night. Members of the public who are interested in attending may RSVP by registering on Eventbrite. Local elected officials and press are welcome to attend both nights. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with programming beginning promptly at 6:00 p.m.
All residents are encouraged to submit questions for the candidates via the above link or by email to tewksburycarnation@gmail.com or wilmingtonapple@gmail.com or paige@yourtowncrier.com. Question selection will be at the sole discretion of the moderators.
