10+ Things To Know This Week In Tewksbury

TBBL Sunday Hoops registration is open, Friends of the Elderly party Friday

This Friday is the town’s annual Tree Lighting & Holiday Celebration on the common, along with the Tewksbury Congregational Church’s Peace of Pie social, with 10+ varieties of homemade pie for $5 per slice. This year, Santa will be at the TCC for free photos. Consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy to drop at the fire station; donations benefit local families. As of now, the weather looks great. Activities including marshmallow roasting, balloon animal making and cocoa drinking will begin at 5 p.m.

Residents from across the political spectrum signed on to Auditor Diana DiZoglio’s ballot question asking voters for the authority to audit the Legislature. DiZoglio said last week that her team had connected with enough registered voters to yield the required 74,574 certified signatures. However, that was an expensive effort, and if the Legislature does not approve the question by May 1, her campaign will need an additional 12,429 signatures by June 19. In anticipation, DiZoglio is hosting a fundraiser on Dec. 15 at the Merrimack Valley Golf Club in Methuen from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Supporters may also donate here.

Residents who may need assistance with heating or utility bills can apply now through CTI. Homeowners and renters may apply. Check out the chart here to see if your household meets the income guidelines.

There is a three-day dine-out Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to benefit the Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library at Wicked Cheesy. Learn more.
