Local run club expands post-race offerings for flagship event with the help of New England grocery giant
The Greater Lowell Road Runners (GLRR) are teaming up with Hannaford Supermarkets to bring a new partnership to the club’s annual flagship event, the Baystate Marathon and Half-Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2026.
The Baystate Marathon is recognized as one of New England’s premier marathons. Celebrated for its fast, flat course and exceptional organization, Baystate is consistently ranked among the top races for Boston Marathon qualification. With the support of Hannaford, the Baystate Marathon will boast expanded post-race amenities including food trucks, and other giveaways.
GLRR has strong roots in the greater Lowell region – and so does Hannaford. Dating back to 1979, GLRR started as a Lowell track club and a meeting of the Merrimack Regional Theater race. It has since grown to an organization with membership from over 100 cities and towns across Massachusetts. Similarly, Hannaford has a storied history in New England, featuring nearly 70 locations across the region. With store locations in Chelmsford, Dracut, and Lowell, Hannaford is recognized as a staple in these communities. The grocery retailer has consistently supported local events and initiatives that promote health and wellness, helping to ensure individuals and families thrive. The Greater Lowell Road Runners are excited to have Hannaford join the Baystate Marathon as its Title Sponsor.
