Highlights from the Tewksbury Housing Authority Meeting

Congratulations to the new chair; HA awarded additional $250,000 formula grant funds for FY27.

The Housing Authority met for its regular meeting on Thursday, May 16, with all members present.

The first order of business was the reorganization of the committee after the reelection of John Deputat to the board at the April 6 town elections. By unanimous vote, Ryan Lloyd was elected chair, with Cheryl Wright as vice-chair. Marc DeFruscia is the treasurer, and Terry Musgrave was elected assistant treasurer. Lloyd is also a member of VFW Post 8164 and serves on the town’s Historic Commission.

Minutes of the April 8 meeting were read and approved, as were invoices for April.

Executive Director Melissa Maniscalco advised the THA of only one vacancy, which has already been offered and awaits final approval. Fire alarm replacements are complete at Carnation Drive, while Saunders Circle is about half complete. Bathroom and shower rehabs are still ongoing.

There were some revisions to the Resident Handbook: “Parking on sidewalks is not allowed at any time” residents were reminded that “… fire pits of any kind… are NOT ALLOWED on Housing Authority Property.” On Pondview Lane “Residents may not construct or install fencing of any kind. All outdoor furniture including temporary structures such as gazebos, pop up tents, etc. must fit on patio; no permanent structure is allowed to be installed on any patio.”

The HA was notified of a formula funding award of an additional $250, 067 for Tewksbury’s capital planning improvements. That funding is meant to “extend the useful life of state-assisted public housing.” These added funds also extend the timeframe of Tewksbury’s Capital Improvement Plan out to June 30, 2027.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, June 13, at the Saunders Circle Community Building. Be on the lookout for the Farmer’s Market from the Merrimack Valley Food Bank.
