Farmer’s Market Coming to Tewksbury Housing Authority

Landscaping project at Delaney Drive will begin very soon.

The Housing Authority met for its regular meeting on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the THA offices at Saunders Circle.

Minutes of the May 16 meeting were read and approved. After some clarification from the Executive Director, the invoices for May were also approved.

Two notices from the Executive Office of Housing & Livable Communities (EOHLC) were discussed. Notice 2024-7 makes significant changes to the way rent is determined, increases funding for Local Tenant Organizations and updates definitions regarding continued occupancy. Because of these changes, Notice 2024-8 outlines the necessary changes and language to its state-aided housing forms and leases.

Melissa Maniscalco, Executive Director, advised the board that three units are soon to be finished with rehabs and will be ready for occupancy very shortly. With two units remaining, the Fire Alarm Upgrade project is near completion. The second stage of shower rehabilitations will begin at Saunders Circle. Delaney Drive will be getting a face lift. There is an overgrowth of trees and shrubs that will be removed, and new plantings are scheduled. The roof project at Pondview is out for bid and will be awarded when all the plans are addressed.

The Farmer’s Market is set for its debut on Thursday, June 20 at Carnation Drive between the hours of 1 and 2 p.m. Merrimack Valley Food Bank will be setting up on the lawn outside the Community Building (the event will move inside if it’s raining). Carnation Drive residents will have the opportunity to gather free food, including fresh, locally grown vegetables. The market will run monthly on Thursdays thru November 14. PROOF OF RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED FOR REGISTRATION
