686 Cultivation Receives Provisional Licensing Approval from CCC

Both manufacturing and cultivation are planned for Clark Rd. business

Today the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission granted provisional licenses for cannabis cultivation and product manufacturing to 686 Cultivation LLC. The business at 686 Clark Rd. occupies a 6,300 square foot, industrial-zoned building that previously housed Chuck’s Tree Service.

686 Cultivation LLC principals are Jeff Derby, who owns Derby Auto Body in Dracut, and Michael Saccone, owner of Tewksbury’s MDR Construction. This is a separate license from the one remaining retail cannabis license; cultivators may not sell to the public. The Cannabis Control Commission regulates cultivators with stringent security and odor control measures similar to those at retail outlets.

In December 2023, Derby and Saccone set a working timeline for opening of about 14 months and had their HCA approved unanimously by the Select Board. They expect about five employees to start, with minimal traffic impact. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days per week, per the CCC application.
