Select Board To Hear Rec Update, Plus More to Know This Week In Tewksbury

Spring officially arrives with the vernal equinox on Tuesday at 11:06 p.m.

A perambulation in municipal government refers to the process of defining or confirming the boundaries of a town with representatives from neighboring jurisdictions. Perambulations have been conducted for centuries as a way to prevent boundary disputes, and that tradition continued on Saturday as Tewksbury Select Board members Pat Holland, Jayne Wellman and James Mackey joined colleagues from Andover and Dracut to repaint the stone marker that’s stood since 1906 at the juncture of the three towns. Learn more about the tradition and this year’s ceremony.

There wasn’t much actual perambulating, but it was a nice day to check out the Merrimack river and wish Tewksbury had a publicly accessible launching point for canoes and kayaks. Speaking of recreational opportunities, on Tuesday the Select Board will get an update on progress from Town Manager Richard Montuori. See more agenda items below.

We’re about three weeks out from the 2024 Town Election, and next week are the Carnation & Town Crier Candidates Forums, moderated by Jason Morris and Robert Hayes. Got questions for the candidates? Share them with us here.
