Travel Team Blue 7 scored three wins over the weekend, downing Beverly, Pentucket and North Reading
The Tewksbury Blue girls eighth grade team went 2-0 on the weekend extending their undefeated season. The two wins this weekend improve their record to 10-0.
On Saturday Tewksbury Blue defeated a tough Woburn team 33-28 in overtime. Woburn came out hot scoring 12 in the first quarter to take a 12-3 lead. Tewksbury came back in the second quarter outscoring Woburn 10-4. Tewksbury played a great second half out scoring Woburn 14-11 after Woburn hit a deep 3 with 40 seconds left to send it to overtime. In overtime Tewksbury outscored Woburn 6-1 to get the win.
Tewksbury had 9 of 11 players score in the game.
They were led by #14 Dylan Richard with 10 points. #0 Sam Quartarone, #20 Delaney Salois and #44 Olivia Manetta all scored 4 points. #31 Molly Witts, #32 Ryleigh Claycomb, #34 Amanda Laycox and #41 Grace Ryan scored 2 points. Shailagh Post scored 1 point.
On Sunday Tewksbury faced the defending regular season champions Salem Blue Devils. Tewksbury jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead and held a 9-6 lead after 1 quarter. In the 2nd quarter Tewksbury extended the lead outscoring Salem 8-2 giving them a 17-7 lead at the half.
In the 3rd quarter Salem made a run outscoring Tewksbury 7-2. In the 4th Tewksbury took it back by outscoring Salem 8-2 giving them the 27-16 victory.
#11 Giana Iraola led the team with 11 points. #0 Sam Quartarone scored 6. #14 Dylan Richard scored 5. #44 Olivia Mannetta scored 3 and #32 Ryleigh Claycomb scored 2.
Tewksbury Blue’s success this year has started with their defensive play. With a signature play for Tewksbury against Salem, #1 Olivia Jensen dove on a loose ball when Salem’s offense lost it, calling timeout before Salem was able to tie it up. It was one of many hustle plays for Tewksbury this season that has guided this team.
On the season Tewksbury has averaged 30.4 points while only giving up 18.4 points. tewksbury Blue’s next game is this Saturday, January 27th at Georgetown.

Tewksbury Travel Team Blue 7 hit the trifecta during the January 20th-21st weekend. They played three games in two days and won all three. Moving their regular season record to 9 – 1. Tewksbury traveled to play a previously undefeated Beverly team and won 16 to 13.
Tewksbury was led by Mariabella Cracchiolo 4pts, Kelsi Adams 4pts, Avarie McMasters 3pts, Daelynn Christopher 2pts, Lila Morris 2pts, Lydia Newell 1pt. Lila Morris was named Player of the Game by the coaches.
Tewksbury then traveled to Pentucket and won 38 to 12. Led by Avarie McMasters 8pts, Mariabella Cracchiolo 7pts, Kelsi Adams 6pts, Alazne Carvajal 4pts, Lila Morris 4pts, Lydia Newell 3pts, Daelynn Christopher 2pts, Lila Morris 2pts, Lyla Costello 2pts. Lydia Newell was named Player of the Game by the coaches.
Tewksbury then hosted North Reading and won 16 to 13. Lila Morris 4pts, Hailey Christopher 4pts, Kelsi Adams 3pts, Lydia Newell 2pts, Daelynn Christopher 2pts, Caly Loring 1pt. Hailey Christopher was named Player of the Game by the coaches.
