Congratulations to the Tewksbury Public Library Community Garden for being named the USDA’s People’s Garden of the Week! This USDA initiative works to highlight community gardens and farms across the country. The USDA’s kudos:
Tewksbury Public Library Community Garden in Massachusetts supports their community by donating produce to the local pantry and participating in their community market where they sell food at an affordable price to cover their operating costs. They are staying busy with their registered monarch butterfly waystation, providing opportunities for library programming for children, and reserving a raised bed for adult groups with disabilities. The Scout troops have been involved in the garden where they have built tools, painted markers, and held meetings and activities. In addition to all the wonderful offerings at the Tewksbury Public Library, any resident with a library card may apply for an available free plot, and any library patron may volunteer. Keep up the great work!
The Young Professionals of Greater Lowell association has Tewksbury connections — the group launched at Wamesit Lanes in 2016, and YP events are sponsored by Tewksbury’s Circle Health. After a pause due to Covid, the Young Professionals of Greater Lowell relaunched this month. All young, and young at heart, professionals in Tewksbury are invited to join.
The YP mission is to foster relationships among industries and to encourage young talent to recognize the opportunities available in our area — after all, today’s young talent will be tomorrow’s CEOs and presidents. Whether you are interested in marketing your business, making new contacts or just having a great time, consider attending a YP networking event. Planned programs include:
- October 12th ⟶ Save the date for fall themed fun! (Pending venue)
- Influencer panel focusing on how to build your brand and market yourself to a captured audience.
- Podcast series with spotlights on young professionals and committee members.
If you are a young professional in the community, the YP Committee would love your feedback and ideas. Take their short survey here. And check the GLCC website for a full list of events and to sign up for a newsletter.
Finally, if weather cooperates, the DPW will replace a culvert pipe on East Street next week. Preparations were completed this week. East Street will be closed from Chandler Street to Lee Street during the day. Residents are advised to seek alternate routes and avoid the area.
