10+ Happenings This Last Week of Daylight Savings In Tewksbury

Tewksbury’s Halloween hours are 6 – 8 p.m., so be careful driving tonight.

Another thing to watch for: The town starts paving projects on Astle St., Old Boston Rd., North St., East St. and Livingston St. today. Residents are advised to seek alternate routes over the next two weeks to avoid road closures in these areas. Find more details here.

Early and mail-in voting continues all week, with in-person hours 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Town Hall. Thank you to the poll workers and to the Town Clerk’s office for making voting accessible to everyone. Learn more.

Trick-or-Treat at the Library
When: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Where: Library

It’s time for some spooky fun! Put on your costume and come trick-or-treat at the library! We will have nut-free candy and small toys for kids of all ages. Be sure to stop by all the information desks (circulation, children’s, teen, and reference) for goodies. The Library will also hold a virtual History of Halloween presentation tonight.

Preparing Financially For The Unexpected

This workshop will help you organize your financial and legal matters and safeguard your financial accounts and possessions. Led by instructors from the Babson Financial Literacy Program, a not-for-profit program designed to help adults acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for long-term financial prosperity and independence.

Shawsheen Tech School Council

The Shawsheen Tech School Council works with the principal to adopt educational goals that meet student needs, review the annual school building budget and review the student handbook each spring. Parents of Shaw Tech students may apply to join. At this meeting, they’ll review Open Meeting Law materials, among other matters. Agenda.

NMCOG

NMCOG is kicking off the public engagement process for the 25-year Regional Transportation Plan Envision 2050. The plan establishes transportation policies, programs and funding for our region. This meeting will be in person at UTEC and virtual, and residents can learn more and subscribe to the email list for more details throughout the planning process. 

Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library Monthly Meeting
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Large meeting room

The FoTPL meet on the first Wednesday of every month to hear from the library director and discuss fundraising efforts. The Friends fund a significant portion of Library programming and host fun events, like puzzle swaps. New friends are welcome! 

Thursday, Nov. 3

Public Health Museum Walking Tours
When: 10 a.m.
Where: Tewksbury State Hospital

The Public Health Museum invites you to explore life in days past, the history of a vibrant community, its architecture, the lives of its patients and staff and its connection to public health. The outdoor tour lasts approximately one hour and is led by a knowledgeable volunteer guide. For November and December, the Public Health Museum is running a food drive to support the Tewksbury Community Pantry. During these months, tours are free for to visitors who bring an item to donate. Retail Marijuana Community Meeting #1

At 1693 Shawsheen St. — a 3.500 s.f. warehouse located just down the road from Luna Rossa plaza — Community Care Collective dba Collective Cannabis is proposing its third Massachusetts location, in addition to shops in Billerica and Littleton. Littleton resident David Giannetta is the point of contact.

Full Harvest Moonz will also hold a Community Outreach Meeting at the Holiday Inn for a proposed location on Rt. 38, just barely over the Lowell line. TMHS Theater Company Presents Radium Girls
When: Showings Nov. 3 – 5

In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, and luminous watches the latest rage – until the girls who made them started to fall ill with a mysterious disease. Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court. Tickets are $10 and available online.

Wilmington Animal Food Pantry Donation Drive
When: Saturday, 10 a.m.
Where: Wilmington Market Basket

The animal food pantry was launched to keep animals in their loving homes while their humans get back on their feet. It serves Wilmington, Woburn, Tewksbury, Burlington, Billerica, Reading and North Reading and accepts not only food but any items that a family may need, like crates, flea/tick medication, animal shampoo, baby gates, collars/leashes and cat carriers. Questions? Email the pantry at hello@rescueallies.com. They will be outside Market Basket collecting donations and sharing information about the program on Saturday. You may also drop items at the Open Space Gift Shop in Tewksbury.

Shawsheen Tech Open House
When: Sunday, 2 – 4 p.m.
Where: Shaw Tech

This two-hour open house is intended for anyone interested in learning about Shawsheen Valley Regional Vocational Technical School District. Prospective students, alumni, community members, co-op employers, and family & friends, are all welcome. The open house is designed to showcase the academic, career, and vocational-technical programs offered at Shawsheen. Parents and students will have the opportunity to speak with teachers, coaches, and club advisors. Self-guided building tours are encouraged, and the admissions office will be open and to answer questions about becoming a Shawsheen student. In addition, various coordinators for district programming will be available.
