Retail Marijuana Watch: New Proposal for Corner of Shawsheen & East St.

A fourth retail marijuana location is in the works per a notice of a community meeting, this one at 1699 Shawsheen St., which is the plaza containing Pizza Bar and Luna Rossa. There are currently no open storefronts, and parking is at a premium.

This notice follows those for retail marijuana shops at an East St. office location that’s zoned industrial and at the former Maverick’s and Sal’s Pizza locations on Main St. Both have been empty for years and are in the South Village zoning district.

The proponent for this proposal is Pure Tewksbury Inc., which is not yet listed as a business entity on the Secretary of State’s website.

The notice of community outreach meeting reads:

Notice is hereby given that Pure Tewksbury, Inc. will hold a Community Outreach Meeting on October 25, 2022 at the Holiday Inn Tewksbury-Andover, located at 4 Highwood Drive, Tewksbury, MA 01876 at 6:00 PM to discuss the proposed siting of an Adult Use Marijuana Retailer at 1699 Shawsheen Street in Tewksbury in accordance with M.G.L. ch. 94G and the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission’s regulations at 935 CMR 500.000 et seq.

Interested members of the community are encouraged to ask questions and receive answers from company representatives about the proposed facility and operations.

Lorna is a U.S. Army veteran and 25-year resident of Tewksbury who has written for organizations ranging from the DIA to InformationWeek to a free weekly in New London that sent her to interview the pastry chef at Foxwoods.
