Tewksbury Fire Department Receives $90,000 To Help Fund Second Ambulance

Tewksbury’s state congressional delegation visited the Center Fire Station yesterday. Senator Barry Finegold along with Representatives Tram Nguyen and Dave Robertson presented $90,000 in funding to help offset the costs of some 400 calls TFD handles from Tewksbury State Hospital annually.

Select Board members James Mackey and Jayne Wellman were also on hand.

Finegold, Nguyen and Robertson were able to include the earmark in the FY22 state budget. Fire Chief Joseph Kearns said the money will partially fund staffing for a second ambulance.

“I know Tewksbury Hospital provides a significant amount of call volume for you guys,” said Robertson. “But the money and everything aside, it just it can’t be said often enough. Thank you.”
