Tewksbury Turns Out for 9-11 Remembrance

Couldn’t make it to the 9-11 ceremony? Click through our photos to get a feel for the event. The weather — a clear, bright blue sky — brought to mind that day 20 years ago when the world changed.

Residents gathered early waiting on the procession.
The library grounds were bedecked with flags.
The procession proceeded down Main St. from the Town Common.
Selectman Jay Kelly was on hand .
The honor guard comprised Tewksbury Police and Fire personnel as well as VFW and Elks members.
Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Emcee and 9-11 Memorial Board of Directors member Robert Fowler had TPD Chief Ryan Columbus and Fire Chief Joseph Kearns flip to decide who would speak first.

Columbus’ address was concise and stressed unity.

TMHS senior Vanessa Waugh performed “Amazing Grace.”
9-11 Memorial Board of Directors member Richard Cuoco.
Tewksbury residents came out in force to remember 9-11.

The kids did a great job during a long ceremony.

A steel beam from the World Trade Center adorns the 9-11 Memorial, which was raised in honor of residents Peter Gay and Peter Hashem, who were on AA flight 11 when it crashed into the World Trade Center’s North Tower. The gazebo now lists all Mass. residents killed that day.
