You can book a TPL Librarian for 30 minutes to help you with your technology questions. You may book up to twice a month, one question per session. Ask about: Using Libby, Hoopla, Kanopy and other library resources; Basic computer skills; Basic tablet skills; Basic phone skills; Using email; and Using Microsoft Office and comparable programs.

IN PERSON: One-Woman Play: Helen Keller, Champion Of The Disabled (*RR)

Tuesday, April 21, 6:30pm

Actress Sheryl Faye will perform her one-woman show, “Helen Keller: Champion of the Disabled.” The show is written from Helen’s mind eye. The story is told on a taped voice over as Helen reenacts her full life from her childhood through her discovery of language when she was seven years old to the writing of her twelve books. She will show the audience how she speaks and reads in Braille, and her story continues through her graduation from college. This unique, special performance will help us to understand and accept the different ways people do the same things and inspire us to be the best we can be with the talents we possess. Sheryl Faye, who received a BFA in Acting from Emerson, currently stars in eleven one-woman shows that tour to different schools, libraries and senior centers across the country. She previously performed at the Tewksbury Library as Amelia Earhart, Eleanor Roosevelt, Susan B. Anthony, and Clara Barton.

Enjoy a morning of bingo in this fun, low-stakes atmosphere. Winners will receive small prizes. All Bingo supplies will be provided. Light refreshments will be served.

IN PERSON: Arbor Day Tree Seedling Giveaway

Friday, April 24, 10am-4:45pm

In celebration of Arbor Day and the Town’s Tree City USA designation, the Library will be giving away 200 fraser fir tree seedlings. One per household while supplies last. Seedlings will be available on table located in the Library’s lobby.

IN PERSON: Arbor Day Celebration

Friday, April 24, 11am

The Town of Tewksbury will be observing Arbor Day to mark the fourth year of attaining Tree City status from the Arbor Day Foundation with a ceremonial tree planting on the front lawn of the Tewksbury Public Library beginning at 11am. All are welcome to join this celebration as an additional native tree is planted in the front yard of the library. Help us celebrate this developing community space and the importance of native trees and plants in our community spaces. In the event of rain, this event will be held in the Fairgrieve Wing/Media area on the first floor of the library.

IN PERSON: AFTERNOON MOVIE — Blue Moon (*RR)

Enjoy a screening of one of Hollywood’s newest DVD releases – “Blue Moon.” The story of Lorenz Hart’s struggles with alcoholism and mental health as he tries to save face during the opening of “Oklahoma!”. Starring Ethan Hawke. Drama/Comedy. Rated R. 1 Hour, 40 Minutes. Doors will open at 1:30pm. Film will start at 2pm. Candy & water will be served. A $1 donation is suggested to help cover the costs of refreshments.

Spend your weekend exploring the library as it transforms into a vibrant landscape of flowers and greenery! Tewksbury Garden Club members will display original floral interpretations of artwork and books provided by local artists, including Tewksbury Memorial High School and Shawsheen Tech students, Tewksbury Piecemakers Quilting Guild, Tewksbury Historical Society, and Tewksbury Public Library as interpreted and designed by Tewksbury Garden Club members.

IN PERSON: Forensic Science Roadshow (*RR)

Venture into the world of CSI with this interactive program that introduces you to the fascinating subject of forensic science. Subjects include: Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory: Functions of Forensic Scientists; Blood; DNA; Fingerprints; Gunshot residue; Footwear Impressions; Metal detector; and Crime Light. Led by Paul Zambella, a retired Forensic Scientist from the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory for 36 years. His functions in the laboratory included crime scene investigator, criminalist, drug analyst, serologist and toxicologist. Zambella participated in more than 500 crime scene investigations, examined thousands of physical evidence items and testified in more than 300 criminal trials.

Explore the remarkable life of Lee Miller, who evolved from fashion model and photographer to a fearless World War II correspondent. Reporting for Vogue, she documented the London Blitz, the Liberation of Paris, and the horrors of Dachau with striking honesty and compassion. Her photographs profoundly shaped France’s memory of the war, particularly through her powerful images of Paris’s liberation. The program is presented in connection with the recent exhibition at Tate Modern and its presentation at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, offering renewed attention to her groundbreaking legacy. Led by French art historian and tour guide Tosca Ruggieri, owner of Art with Tosca.

VIRTUAL: When A Loved One Is Dying — Conversations About Care, Connection & Coping (*RR)

When you’re caring for a loved one with a serious or end-of-life disease, there are often more questions than answers. Maureen Groden, RN, MS, CHPN — hospice nurse, educator, and author of When A Love One Is Dying — will share true stories of families navigating these experiences and offer expert guidance and practical advice. Groden is passionate about teaching people about advanced directives, palliative care and hospice care, long before they need these services.

Join us for our revamped and expanded Pokémon Club. Want to learn how to play? Already a seasoned battler? Just a Pokémon fan in general? No matter your level or interest, there is a place for you here! This event is for children in grades K-5

IN PERSON: JamBaby – Jammin With You (*RR)

Friday, April 24, 11am

Join Jammin With You for an interactive music and movement event. It will be full of exploration crucial for early literacy skills! This event is for children ages 0-5. Registration is recommended but not required. Sponsored by Community Teamwork Inc’s Family Resource Network. The Family Resource Network is funded by the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant (CFCE) from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
