The Tewksbury Board of Health is holding its monthly meeting at 6pm in the Main Hall of the Town Hall (1009 Main Street). Read the agenda HERE. The meeting is open to the public. The meeting will be televised live on Tewksbury Telemedia (Comcast 8 6 Verizon 33) and streamed on the Town’s YouTube channel.
Library Virtual Lecture: Sarah Miriam Peale — America’s First Female Professional Painter
The Tewksbury Public Library (300 Chandler Street) is holding an art history webinar — “Sarah Miriam Peale — America’s First Female Professional Painter” — at 2pm on ZOOM. Sarah Miriam Peale was the daughter of artist James Peale and niece of Charles Willson Peale. In 1824, Sarah and her sister Anna were the first women accepted to the Pennsylvania Academy of Art in Philadelphia. With more than 100 commissioned portraits, Sarah is considered America’s first female professional painter and the most prolific painter in Baltimore during the mid 19th century. Preschool Playgroup at Tewksbury Public Library
Community Teamwork hosts a Preschool Playgroup every Thursday morning at 11am at the Tewksbury Public Library (300 Chandler Street). Kids can meet, play, and learn, while picking up some literacy skills. Free and open to all preschoolers.
Melty Makers At Tewksbury Library
The Tewksbury Public Library (300 Chandler Street) is holding its monthly “Melty Makers” session at 3:30pm with children in Grades 3-5. Learn more and register HERE.
Public Health Museum Tours
The Public Health Museum, located on the grounds of the Tewksbury Hospital (365 East Steet), is open from 10am to 2pm. A hospital campus walking tour will take place at 10:30am. Tours of the museum are also scheduled for 10:30am and 12:30pm. Register for any of the tours HERE. The Museum is a non-profit educational and cultural museum, with a mission to strive to preserve records and artifacts from America’s public health history; educate the public about the achievements and contributions of public health; and inspire people to build upon the past and continue to advance the future of public health.
Karaoke with DJ Manny At TJ Callahan’s Pub
TJ Callahan’s Pub (1475 Main Street) hosts Karaoke with DJ Manny every Thursday night from 8pm to midnight.
8 Fitness Classes at Tewksbury Senior Center
The Tewksbury Senior Center (175 Chandler Street) is hosting 8 fitness/wellness classes today:
- Belly Dancing (9:30am)
- Wii Bowling League (9:30am)
- Piecemakers Quilters (10am)
- Body Works (10:25am)
- Fit For All (11:25am)
- Light Yoga for Seniors (12:30pm)
- Whist (12:30pm)
- Bone Builders (2pm)
- Chair Yoga (3:30pm)
- Cardio Drumming (4:30pm)
Most fitness/wellness class fees are paid either by the month OR by purchasing a punch card. Punch card cost is $35 and allows seniors to attend 10 classes of their choice. Cards can be purchased in the Senior Center’s Office. Seniors may drop in to try any of the fitness/wellness classes for FREE. Please note Bone Builders classes and the Cardio Drumming class are grant-funded with no cost to participants but do require registration to participate.
