Tewksbury residents and visitors are invited to learn more about restoration work on Poplar Street, Mollie Drive and improved recreational use.
The Tewksbury Community Development Department and Department of Public Works are teaming up with EA Engineering, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection to solicit feedback for an upcoming opportunity to improve recreational use at the former Poplar Street Well Fields site and discuss the restoration work at both Poplar Street and Mollie Drive. The session will take place on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 in two parts. First, a site walk at Poplar Street at 4:00 PM followed by a discussion at the Tewksbury Senior Center from 5:30-6:30PM.
One goal of this session is to provide education related to the flood plain, groundwater, and wetland restoration work planned for the Poplar Street and Mollie Drive sites within the Shawsheen River watershed to restore ecological function. The other goal is to solicit community feedback for a more formalized trailhead with limited gravel parking and an informational kiosk to enhance recreational use for the Poplar Street site. Folks interested in this event will meet at the end of Poplar Street for a site walk then meet at the Senior Center for a follow-up discussion.
This meeting is open to the public and registration is encouraged but not required.
