TPL honors furry friends with the debut of its brand-new Stick Library.
Located just outside TPL’s front doors you’ll now find a small library for four-legged friends. What’s in this library? Sticks, of course! To honor and celebrate the many dogs of our wonderful community, this stick library is just for them to enjoy. Grab a stick to play with on your walks around Chandler and Main Street or leave a stick behind for the next pup to enjoy. The Stick Library celebrates the beauty of the public library: a free and fun space for all.
The Stick Library is dedicated to TPL’s reading dogs past, present, and future. For years, trained pups have sat with our youngest readers as part of the ongoing Barks & Books program out of the Children’s Room. These reading companions help children build literacy confidence and fluency with a non-judgmental canine partner. To celebrate the launch of TPL’s brand new Stick Library, you can pamper your pup with a literary-themed treat from local business The Barkery. This collaboration was born out of a love of two loyal companions: dogs and books. Stop by The Barkery from August 12th to August 31st where you’ll find a selection of their famous fresh baked dog cookies with a book-ish twist. Can’t make it to The Barkery in person? This collaboration will also be available via their online storefront at https://thebarkeryonline.com/.
A portion of the proceeds from your purchase from the “Tales & Tails” collection at The Barkery will be donated to Great Dog Rescue New England (GDRNE). GDRNE is a Massachusetts based non-profit dedicated to finding forever homes for pups in need.
