TJ Callahan’s Pub to be Featured on America’s Best Restaurants

Local eatery TJ Callahan’s will be hosting visits from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) in early June 2025.

America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on June 5th.  Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owner Dawn Callahan about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.

With a from-scratch menu, live entertainment weekly and a large selection of draft beers, TJ Callahan’s is a popular community gathering spot that has been a bar since the sixties but under Callahan’s ownership since 2006.

The pub-style menu offers starters, salads, wings, soups, burgers and sandwiches, mac and cheese and entrees. They also have banquet space with catering and numerous special events.

Callahan is hopeful that her episode will bring her recognition and a way to showcase that to the community that they are a family-friendly environment with a great menu.

“We call ourselves a five star dive bar,” Callahan says. “It’s a dive bar with really good food.”

Popular menu items that may be featured on the episode include the Buffalo Mac & Cheese, handcrafted burgers such as the Sunny-Side Up, topped with cheese, bacon and egg; and classic pub fare such as fish and chips and the Fisherman’s Reuben, battered and fried haddock with Swiss cheese, coleslaw and Thousand Island dressing on grilled rye. 

In 2021, the Wilmington/Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce awarded Callahan the Carmon Cunningham Business Legacy Award for her “business success and generosity to the community”, recognizing the wide array of fundraisers and volunteer efforts she organizes regularly.  

America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Thursday June 5th from 9 am to noon EST. The press is invited to attend. The restaurant’s finished episode premiere date will be announced on their Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants’ website.

Restaurants featured on the ABR Roadshow are selected based on their customer reviews, menu items, social media presence, and level of involvement with their community.
