The Tewksbury Health Department is excited to share this valuable opportunity for families in our community and beyond! We are offering NAMI Basics, a free, in-person 6-week course designed for parents and family caregivers of children and adolescents experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.
This course, open to all towns, is taught by NAMI-trained parents and caregivers and provides essential tools to help families navigate the mental health system, understand diagnoses, and advocate for their child.

Meets Weekly on Tuesdays – March 11 – April 15, 2025

Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for parents, guardians, and family caregivers of children or teens facing mental health challenges. It offers practical guidance, emotional support, and a community of others who truly understand.

Managing crises, solving problems, and communicating effectively
Coping with stress and prioritizing self-care
Building confidence to support children with compassion
Advocating for children’s rights in schools and healthcare settings
Understanding treatment options, including evidence-based therapies and medications
Navigating public mental health, school, and juvenile justice systems
At NAMI Basics, families will gain knowledge, support, and empowerment in a safe and understanding environment.
