Tewksbury Winter Community Market at Senior Center

The Tewksbury Winter Community Market is holding its November market from 4pm to 7pm at the Tewksbury Senior Center (175 Chandler Street). Support 30 local vendors (see list below), pick up a few things for Thanksgiving, and get some holiday shopping done! You can preorder Whoopie Pies from the Whoo(pie) Wagon HERE.

Open House Grand Opening at The Willows

Join Sawyer Realty and the Town of Tewksbury for an Open House Grand Opening of The Willows, a new 55+ community, at 2580 Main Street, at 11:30am. The building and grounds of the former Woodhaven Memory Care Facility, which closed in early 2022, have undergone renovations and revitalization. The property has been updated and fully equipped with 57 units of 55+ independent living units with common gathering spaces and central cooking and laundry facilities, among other amenities. Sawyer Realty, the new owners of the property, invites the community to an open house to learn more about the renovation process, tour the new units, and hear more about Sawyer’s work in Tewksbury. Sea Glass Class at TJ’s Callahan’s Pub

TJ Callahan’s Pub (1475 Main Street) is hosting a class with The Art Lab & Gallery. Create Sea Glass Wreaths, Trees or Succulents from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets cost $57. Purchase HERE. Please note the Facebook event and Title of the Class indicates it runs from 7pm to 9pm, but the Date & Time on the registration page indicates it runs from 6pm to 8pm. Free Meditation Class at Tewksbury Public Library

Chris Connolly, RN, BSN, owner of Living My Dream Yoga, is lead a 3-week series of meditation classes this month on Thursdays, from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, at the Tewksbury Public Library (300 Chandler Street). Classes are designed for both those who are new to meditation and regular practitioners. Attendees should bring their own yoga mat, beach towel, blanket or cushion to sit/lay on. Library Virtual Lecture: Armchair Travel To Iceland

The Tewksbury Public Library (300 Chandler Street) is holding an armchair travel webinar — “A Photographic Journey Through Iceland’s Midnight Sun” — at 7pm on ZOOM. The land of Fire and Ice lies just below the Arctic Circle. It is a land of extremes and stark beauty. In this presentation, local photographer Bruce Magnuson will set Iceland in its historical context and explore some of its natural wonders. Ranging from the capital of Reykjavik to the Golden Circle, the south coast and the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, the almost constant sun in early summer allows a wide-ranging exploration of parts of this 20-million-year-old island. Library Virtual Lecture: George Tooker — Modern Life & Magical Realism

The Tewksbury Public Library (300 Chandler Street) is holding an art history webinar — “George Tooker — Modern Life & Magical Realism” — at 10:30am on ZOOM. George Tooker often depicted the tensions of modern life and inhuman bureaucracies. As a gay man, active in the Civil Rights movement, Tooker explored boundary-breaking subjects in his work while also conjuring powerful scenes of quiet beauty. Preschool Playgroup at Tewksbury Public Library

Community Teamwork hosts a Preschool Playgroup every Thursday morning at 11am at the Tewksbury Public Library (300 Chandler Street). Kids can meet, play, and learn, while picking up some literacy skills. Free and open to all preschoolers.

8 Fitness Classes at Tewksbury Senior Center

The Tewksbury Senior Center (175 Chandler Street) is hosting 8 fitness/wellness classes today:

• Belly Dancing (9:30am)
• Wii Bowling League (9:30am)
• Body Works (10:25am)
• Fit For All (11:15am)
• Light Yoga for Seniors (12:30pm)
• Bone Builders (2pm)
• Chair Yoga (3:30pm)
• Cardio Drumming (4:30pm)

Most fitness/wellness class fees are paid either by the month OR by purchasing a punch card. Punch card cost is $35 and allows seniors to attend 10 classes of their choice. Cards can be purchased in the Senior Center’s Office. Seniors may drop in to try any of the fitness/wellness classes for FREE. Please note Bone Builders classes and the Cardio Drumming class are grant-funded with no cost to participants but do require registration to participate. Public Health Museum Tours

The Public Health Museum, located on the grounds of the Tewksbury Hospital (365 East Steet), is open from 10am to 2pm. A hospital campus walking tour will take place at 10:30am. Tours of the museum are also scheduled for 10:30am and 12:30pm. Register for any of the tours HERE. The Museum is a non-profit educational and cultural museum, with a mission to strive to preserve records and artifacts from America’s public health history; educate the public about the achievements and contributions of public health; and inspire people to build upon the past and continue to advance the future of public health.
