Tewksbury’s Stronach Awarded for Excellence In Public Service

Former Select Board member recognized for commitment to education.

This morning, Tewksbury resident and former elected official Anne Marie Stronach was awarded the Manuel Carballo Excellence in Public Service Award. Stronach, above center, was presented the award by Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, left, and Secretary of Education Patrick Tutwiler.

Stronach works on the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Individual Award and Cross-Secretariat Emergency Shelter Response Team. She also served two terms on the Tewksbury Select Board, from 2007 to 2013, and returned for two additional terms, from 2016 to 2022. She also contributed on a number of town committees, including the Center Elementary School Building Committee, the Green Com­mittee, and the Local Housing Partner­ship.

Earlier this year, Stronach received the M.A.S.S. Distinguished Service Award from the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents, which called her “a” a true champion of preK – 12 public education and a friend and support to so many in our association.”

For today’s award, in a statement, the Executive Office of Education said it “recognizes staff who go above and beyond ordinary, daily expectations. These individual staff represent the best of our Secretariat and exemplify our continued work to see that all Massachusetts residents have access to a high-quality education regardless of their circumstance, zip code, or socioeconomic status. They also embody our core values to advance equity and inclusion, maintain a holistic perspective, embrace collaboration, champion innovation and center fulfillment.”
