Tewksbury 1972 Propane Gas Explosion: Interviews With Surviving Firefighters
The Tewksbury Historical Society and Tewksbury Public Library is holding a special event, “Tewksbury 1972 Propane Gas Explosion: Interviews With Surviving Firefighters,” at 7pm in the Library’s Meeting Room (300 Chandler Street). Visit the library to watch a filmed series of interviews, conducted by Nancy Reed of the Tewksbury Historical Society and produced by Tewksbury Telemedia, featuring some of the surviving firefighters that were there that night: Retired Captain Bob Fowler, Retired Lieutenant Ed Kearns and Retired Firefighter Jim Farley. Discover how this tragic event influenced improvements in safety and firefighting to this day. Learn about the amazing scrapbook that was discovered and is now digitized and preserved for the town. Wilmington-Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic
The Wilmington-Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce is holding its Annual Golf Classic at the Trull Brook Golf Course (170 River Road) in Tewksbury. Registration begins at 7am with a continental breakfast. Golfing starts at 8am. The Classic is a shotgun style, best-ball scramble tournament. There will be opportunities to win great prizes in on-course contests. There’s a $125 cost to play — $500 for a foursome. Admission includes 18 holes with cart, continental breakfast, networking, fun contests, awards, and post-tournament 12:30pm buffet lunch at the Wamesit Lanes (434 Main Street, Tewksbury). Tewksbury Police Offering Free CPR Course
The Tewksbury Police Department hosts a free civilian CPR course from 6pm to 9pm at the police station (918 Main Street). Training includes CPR for adults, children and infants. Stop The Bleed and Narcan will also be covered. The course is open to Tewksbury residents, age 16 and over. Registration is FULL, but the Police intend on hosting these CPR courses on a monthly basis. Follow their Facebook page for future course announcements.

Tewksbury Finance Committee Meeting
The Tewksbury Finance Committee meets at 7pm in the first-floor meeting room at Town Hall (1009 Main Street). Read the meeting agenda HERE. The highlight of the agenda appears to be reviewing the Special Town Meeting warrant articles. The Committee will receive various updates from the Town Manager and discuss Finance Committee representation on other town committees. The meeting is open to the public.
Tewksbury Beautification Committee Meeting
The Tewksbury Beautification Committee meets at 6pm in the second-floor Trustees Room at the Tewksbury Public Library (300 Chandler Street). Read the agenda HERE. The Committee will discuss its Switchbox Art program and its Adopt-An-Island program. The meeting is open to the public.
Line Dancing At Wamesit Lanes
Wamesit Lanes (434 Main Street) is hosting free line dancing on its patio every Monday night this September, from 7pm to 9pm, courtesy of 603 Line Dance. All skill levels are welcome. Learn more HERE.
Tewksbury Job Seekers Networking Group Meeting
The Tewksbury Public Library (300 Chandler Street) is hosting the weekly meeting of its Tewksbury Job Seekers Networking Group at 2pm via ZOOM. This week’s meeting will focus on emotional intelligence, its relevance in the job search, and practical steps for you to enhance your own “EQ.” This week’s guest speaker is Edythe Richards, an executive coach and emotional intelligence practitioner and trainer. She is an HR Manager at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and founder of “A Top Career.” Richards is also the host of three popular podcasts: Myers-Briggs Question Corner, MBTI for Midlife Career Changers, and EQ at Work. Pirate-Themed Story Time @ Tewksbury Library
The Tewksbury Public Library (300 Chandler Street) is hosting a Story Time for Ages 2-5 at 2pm. Join Miss Emily for stories, songs, movement, instruments, dancing and more, and get your early literacy skills on! Today’s theme is pirates, so feel free to dress up in your most pirate-y attire. Barks & Books @ Tewksbury Library
The Tewksbury Public Library (300 Chandler Street) is hosting its weekly Barks & Books with service dog Diamond from 4pm to 5pm in the Activities Room. Children (especially those struggling with reading) are invited to sign up for a one-on-one, 15-minute session to read to Diamond. Bring your own book or borrow one from the library. This is a great way for children to build literacy confidence and fluency with a non-judgmental canine reading partner. Register HERE.
8 Fitness Classes At Tewksbury Senior Center
The Tewksbury Senior Center (175 Chandler Street) is hosting 8 fitness/wellness classes today:
- Forever Fit (9am)
- Tap Dance (9:45am)
- Men’s Stretch & Strengthen (10:30am)
- Light Yoga (11am)
- Bone Builders #2 (12:30pm)
- Bone Builders #1 (2pm)
- Gentle Yoga (3:30pm)
- Cardio Drumming (4:30pm)
Most fitness/wellness class fees are paid either by the month OR by purchasing a punch card. Punch card cost is $35 and allows seniors to attend 10 classes of their choice. Cards can be purchased in the Senior Center’s Office. Seniors may drop in to try any of the fitness/wellness classes for FREE. Please note Bone Builders classes and the Cardio Drumming class are grant-funded with no cost to participants but do require registration to participate. Call the Senior Center at 978-640-4480 with any questions.
