Annual VFW Post 8164 Golf Tournament Still Looking for Sponsors, Foursomes

If you’re looking for a tee time, consider this event in memory of Scott Forbes

The 5th Annual VFW Post 8164 Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday, June 10, 2024 at Merrimack Valley Country Club in Methuen. Having suffered the loss of a member, Scott Forbes, to suicide in 2023, the post is refocusing its efforts on supporting those organizations that are helping fight this epidemic and save the lives of those who answer the call of duty and continue to fight the hidden battles of war.

Funds raised at the tournament will be used to support the following key programs:

1. 22 Mohawks, an organization raising awareness for veteran suicide prevention, fighting for those who fought for us.
2. Veterans Northeast Outreach Center (VNEOC), which helps at risk and low-income veterans with
   basic food and shelter needs, housing, advocacy, social engagement, community activities, case management, and VA benefits and claims assistance.
3. Maintenance and expansion of the VFW National Home for Children, devoted exclusively to the benefit and welfare of surviving spouses and orphans of needy or deceased veterans or members of the armed forces.
4. VFW Post 8164 community service programs including aid to hospitalized in-house Veteran members at the Bedford VA; veteran’s rehabilitation, welfare, and service work in our community; and to foster true patriotism through historical and educational programs such as VFW’s Patriot Pen and Voice of Democracy scholarship programs.
