Election Misinformation Alert, Sadwick Updates Business Audience on Tewksbury Progress

And don’t forget night two of the Candidates Forum with Board of Health and Select Board, moderated by Robert Hayes

Town officials confirmed reports of misinformation circulating about the Town Election on April 6, specifically that there is a requirement for voters to select candidates in a pair, similar to how we would vote for a president and vice president on one “ticket.” That is not the case — even though you may often see lawn signs paired up or two names in an endorsement letter, all candidates run individually.

When two seats are open, you may choose any one OR two of those names printed on the ballot OR write in as many as two names. When there is one seat, you may again write in a name. The choice is yours. If you hear information that seems sketchy, call the Town Clerk’s office at 978-640-4355. Denise Graffeo and her team are available to answer questions.

Night 2 of Candidates Forum

Tonight’s moderator will be Wilmington Apple editor Robert Hayes. Board of Health candidates will lead off, followed by Select Board candidates, who are scheduled to start their Q&A at 7 p.m.

You can now watch last night’s School Committee forum on TewksburyTV.

Sadwick Updates Business Audience
Tewksbury’s light, bright and newly renovated Hilton Garden Inn hosted the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce’s annual Community Connections breakfast. Featured speakers included town managers from Billerica, Chelmsford, Dracut, Tyngsboro, Westford and Tewksbury as well as Lowell City Manager Tom Golden. The audience of business owners and education and agency leaders heard updates on topics including regional economic development strategies, the need to address the state’s education funding gap, the potential of the area to attract advanced manufacturing and sustainable energy companies, and the challenges of civil discourse in local politics.

Assistant Town Manager Steve Sadwick discussed new businesses that have come to Tewksbury and said that the long-delayed redevelopment of Stadium Plaza, which was introduced to the Planning Board in 2021, is moving closer, with owner Market Basket having identified a number of tenants. Design work is ongoing, he said. He also teased updates to the plaza containing Pushcart and John Ryan’s Pub, though that plan is still in very early stages.

Golden and other Lowell leaders had to head back next-door immediately after the breakfast to catch up with Gov. Maura Healey, who was in town to share details about the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor, or LINC, initiative, which is billed as a “transformative economic development project.” Healey revealed Draper as the first major company that will locate in UML’s East Campus footprint.
