Candidate has food safety experience, joins four other residents seeking two three-year seats
I am delighted to let you know that I am running as a write-in candidate for the 3-year term on the Board of Health, Tewksbury.
My name is Pamela LeFave (Pam). My husband, Bob, and I moved to Tewksbury in 1975, prior to the birth of our first child, Wendy (now Wendy Russo). We raised our 3 children in our home on Chandler St. I grew up in Arlington Virginia, attended George Washington University in D.C. and Long Beach State. My work-life began as a Customer Service Representative at the Washington Post Company. When Bob returned from Viet Nam, we moved to Massachusetts and I worked as a business manager for a small manufacturing firm in Wakefield MA until we moved to Tewksbury.
I recently retired from working 20 years as a Program Assistant in 4-H. In this position, my primary responsibilities included managing 2-3 hundred volunteers and mentoring youth, aged 5-18, in developing leadership and speaking skills. This position enabled me to develop my own skills as a listener, in relationship building, and in resolving conflicts so that both – or several parties – could move forward for the benefit of all.
Some background that may enhance my understanding of the board position are: obtaining and maintaining ServSafe, a good understanding of food safety and restaurant safe practices from my husband who has been involved in the food service industry for 50 years, and 10 years working in Diet and Nutrition.
If I have an agenda as I approach the position, it would be to take time to listen to residents and Board members, to educate myself as best I can to find solutions for issues, to work to build relationships and assist Board members in coming to consensus so that we can move forward as we provide quality service to Residents and businesses in Tewksbury.
A few issues to be addressed: Work to develop an openness to treatment and prevention of Mental Health concerns, work with members to develop clear communication with Residents, other Boards, and town businesses.
