Candidate says ‘it’s time to transition from survival into a proactive mindset’
My name is Luke Miller, and I am running as a write-in candidate for the Board of Health.
I grew up in Tewksbury and graduated from TMHS in 2017. I received degrees in Quantitative Economics and History from the University of Maine, and now work in the commercial insurance industry. In college I volunteered with The Greater Bangor Housing Coalition and Needlepoint Sanctuary to help support the local homeless population, while I did a year-long research fellowship with UMaine’s McGillicuddy Humanities Center on how local and state policy affects the homeless population.

The Board of Health has done a good job of supporting town staff and leading us through the pandemic, but now with the four year anniversary of quarantine, it’s time to transition from survival into a proactive mindset.
I’m interested in multiple health-related issues for our town, including mental health, drug use, homelessness, health & safety in our schools, the state hospital, and our environment.
I believe we can grow and help our community in new areas, while becoming leaders in the areas we are already successful. I look forward to bringing energy and enthusiasm to the Board of Health to partner with various town departments and committees to improve access to health-related information, opportunities, and care for all our residents.Â
Thank you,
Luke Miller
