Become a member of this nonprofit during its annual membership drive, happening now
The GAC is a nonprofit, lively and active group. They run activities and events for seniors, as well as providing assistance to individuals in need and a yearly college scholarship to a graduating high school student. Anyone age 60 or older is welcome to become a member.
Looking for a cribbage partner? Come on down to the Senior Center on Wednesdays, or if you prefer some whist, that’s on Thursdays. You should arrive around 12:15, games start at 12:30.
The ever-popular Zingo is on Tuesdays. Arrive between 11:30 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. You can bring your lunch or snacks and socialize with friends and neighbors. Games start promptly at 12:45 p.m.
L-C-R (Left Right Center) is another popular game run by the GAC. The cost to play the game, which includes lunch of pizza, salad and dessert is $5. You will also need $3.00 in quarters to play the game. Sign up is required, so we can plan accordingly for the lunch count. Be sure to purchase your ticket on or before the Wednesday before the event. Tickets can be purchased on Tuesdays & Wednesdays from noon to 4 p.m. at the reception desk. Seating begins at 11:45 a.m., and the game starts at 12:15 p.m. This event only happens once per month, and the next Ggame is on Friday, March 15.
GAC Scholarship Program: The GAC offers scholarships to graduating high school students who will be attending college in the fall of 2024. Students must have a relative who is a GAC member and be graduating from either Tewksbury Memorial High School or Shawsheen Valley Technical High School. Applicants must include their college acceptance letter with their application. Applications are available at the Senior Center. Students need to return their applications to the GAC at the center by April 17, 2024. GAC Scholarships will be awarded at the TMHS Awards Night on May 23. All TMHS students will receive an invitation from TMHS to the Award Night. Shawsheen Tech Students will receive their awards through their associated GAC member.
Become a GAC Member! The GAC’s Membership Drive began on March 5. Sign up/renew membership on Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the lobby. The cost is $10 for two full years (June 1, 2024 through May 31, 2026) Members aged 85+ are free lifetime members! New members are always welcome.
