Pondview roof replacement project gets underway this spring; audit results accepted
The Housing Authority met on Tuesday, Feb. 20, with a full quorum present.
Minutes of January 8, 2024 meeting were read and approved. Invoices for February were discussed and approved for payment.
Notices from the Executive Office of Housing & Livable Communities were discussed:
2024-2 Local Housing Authorities (LHAs) should start engaging and consulting tenants when considering a management agreement with another authority. Resident participation in major LHA decisions benefits the authority and its residents and is required by state regulations.
2024-3 EOHLC will continue to focus on reducing vacancies in state-aided public housing in partnership with LHAs. EOHLC works with the LHAs to track vacancies and provide capital funding for unit rehabilitations.
Executive Director Melissa Maniscalco advised the THA of the four current vacancies, which are expected to be occupied within the next month.
A roof replacement plan for Pondview Lane Family Housing Development was presented and discussed. The development consists of six one-and-a-half to two-story townhouse-style wood-sided buildings, with each building containing two units for a total of 12 units. Construction of the buildings was completed in 1993. The goal of the project is to replace the existing asphalt shingle roofs, flashings, and gutters and downspouts on all six buildings in the development. A unanimous vote to proceed with the project was taken, and work is expected to begin this spring.
The Fiscal Year End 2023 Certification was presented by Rich Conlon, CPA with Marcum LLP. Again, the Tewksbury Housing Authority was given high marks as they continue to maintain A1 housing for the residents. Authority voted unanimously to certify this financial audit.
The next meeting will be on March 11 at the Sunders Circle Community Building.
