What To Know This Presidents Day Week In Tewksbury

ConCom meets, DA Marian Ryan in town Wednesday night

Families looking for things to do this vacation week can check out the Macaroni Kid Greater Lowell site, which collects fun options in our area — including Lowell Kids Week events — and beyond.

The Tewksbury Senior Center is running a program that provides free respite care. A home-care worker will offer a break for a Tewksbury senior who is caring for a loved one and wants to get out of the house to run errands or just have lunch with a friend. DA Marian Ryan will be in Tewksbury Wednesday to present an innovative research-based critical thinking and reasoning curriculum designed to help people of all ages learn how to discern fact from fiction while online. See more below.

The Tewksbury Public Library’s 2024 Community Survey is live through March 11. Share your feedback on current services, how you use your library and what you’d like to see offered. Your feedback will shape the library’s strategic planning process. Complete the survey online at surveymonkey.com/r/TPL2024 or visit the first floor to pick up a paper copy. All responses are anonymous, but you are welcome to share your email address to take part in a raffle for a $25 gift card to Market Basket.

Finally, trash is delayed one day due to the holiday.

Presidents Day was initially established in 1879 to celebrate the birthday of the nation’s first president, George Washington. The Library and Senior Center as well as town offices are closed. There will also be no blood pressure clinic at the Senior Center this week.

Housing Authority
When: 4 p.m.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Tewksbury town nurse Ashley Pavlakos will host Youth Mental Health Training that teaches adults how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents from ages 12-18. The Committee to Elect Tom Bowley and the Committee to Elect Eric Ryder invite residents to meet these Select Board candidates at TJ Callahan’s back room beginning at 6 p.m.

Digital Citizenship Academy with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office
When: 6:30 – 8 p.m.

Learn how to discern fact from fiction while navigating online — whether you’re scrolling through social media, reading a news article, or assessing a political candidate’s claim — in this 90-minute “Digital Citizenship Academy” program presented by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. District Attorney Marian Ryan and her team will provide access to a first-of-its kind, best-in-class and research-based critical thinking and reasoning curriculum developed by the Stanford History Education Group. This program aims to provide attendees with a skill-set that strengthens digital literacy and citizenship empowerment.

Conservation Commission

The Conservation Commission is expected to hear from Civil Design Consultants on the MacLellan Oil project, among other items on the agenda.

Alternative House Fundraiser

Please join Alternative House and the Ladies of Longmeadow for our annual Valentine Fundraiser. All proceeds go to support survivors of domestic violence.
