There are two contested races this year
Unless candidates withdraw, there will be two contested races in the Annual Town Election, for Select Board and School Committee. The last day to object to a candidate’s certification or to pull nomination papers and not appear on the ballot is Tuesday, March 5. One office, a three-year Board of Health term, has no candidates.
The 2024 Annual Town Election will be Saturday, April 6.
Before then, there are a number of opportunities to meet and learn about candidates. Additional events will show up in the Community Calendar.
For the third year, Tewksbury Democratic Town Committee Chair Cathy Dwyer invites all candidates, elected officials and residents to a meetup at Luna Rossa on Tuesday, March 26 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. There are no formal speeches; residents are encouraged to seek out candidates and ask questions. There will be a cash bar.
Wednesday, March 27, is the final day to register to be eligible to vote at the Annual Town Election and Annual Town Meeting in May. Tewksbury residents who will be 18 years of age on or before April 6, 2024 may register to vote on March 27 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Town Clerk’s Office, or anytime during regular Town Hall hours. Learn more.
There will be a televised Candidates Forum at Tewksbury Town Hall on Wednesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 28. All candidates, regardless of whether they are in a competitive race, will have an opportunity to introduce themselves to voters. Residents may attend in person or watch on Tewksbury TV. The Carnation will also invite candidates to answer Q&As after March 5.
