Briefs: TPD Seeks Assistance — Do You Know This Truck? Plus Healthy Kids Running Reg Opens

And, whether you run, walk, cycle or drive, NMCOG wants your input on making our roads safer for all

The Healthy Kids Running Series is a five week running program in the spring and fall for kids Pre-K through 8th grade. Each HKRS Series takes place once a week and offers age-appropriate running events including the 50 and 75 yard dashes, the 1/4 mile, the 1/2 mile and the 1 mile run. Kids will earn points for each race they complete based on their finish. Spring registration is live now at this link.

The registration fee covers race bibs for each week, a runner shirt, a finisher medal and any sponsor giveaways. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferrable. Online Early Bird registration is $45.00 and then increases to $50.00 three weeks prior to the first race event. Parents with questions can reach a local coordinator via email at tewksburyma@healthykidsrs.org.

Got thoughts on road safety? The Northern Middlesex Council of Governments (NMCOG) is hosting a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, February 27 at 6:00 pm to present the Greater Lowell High Injury Crash Network and discuss the region’s approach to the comprehensive safety action plan developed as part of the “Safe Streets and Roads for All” Grant (SS4A). This effort will focus on eliminating fatalities and serious injuries by identifying strategies that focus on the needs of all road users — pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders, motorists and beyond. The project will identify strategies to improve safety outcomes in communities throughout Greater Lowell, including Tewksbury. To participate via Zoom, register here: https://bit.ly/GreaterLowellVZPF1

During this virtual public meeting, participants will be provided with an overview of existing safety conditions and supporting data and hear a summary of preliminary responses to the Greater Lowell Vision Zero Survey. Participants will have ample time to share feedback, contribute ideas and ask questions. Those unable to participate are invited to contribute their feedback through the Greater Lowell Vision Zero survey, which will remain open through March 1. Materials and a video recording of the forum will be available on the Greater Lowell Vision Zero Plan website.

Police Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department is seeking public assistance as it investigates an incident in which a man allegedly exposed himself outside of a business.  On Sunday, Jan. 25, the Tewksbury Police Department received a report of lewd activity in a business parking lot at 10 Main St. Through its initial investigation, Tewksbury Police learned that earlier in the day a man had exposed himself to a woman and had made a lewd comment. The man then drove away in a white, 4-door Ford pickup truck with a yellow V-plow and a gray sander in the bed of the truck.

Note the gray sander in the truck bed.

Anyone with information on this incident, or anyone who believes they recognize the suspect, is asked to call Tewksbury Police at 978-851-7373, or to email tewks_detectives@tewksbury-ma.gov. Those who wish to send anonymous tips can do so by visiting https://tewksburypolice.com/anonymous-tips/.
