5 Things to Know Today In Tewksbury

Happy 2024! Can you help TPD or make a tiny painting?

1. Trash pickup & Christmas tree disposal. Need to say goodbye to your tree? There will be curbside pickup the week of Jan. 15 or you can drop your tree for recycling at the DPW, free. There is a location in the parking lot marked with a sign. In addition, trash pickup is delayed one day this week.

2. Today is the first day to pick up nomination papers. If you’re interested in running for local office, you can pull papers at the Town Clerk’s office starting today. Here are the seats up on April 6. At least three incumbents are not seeking reelection.

3. Today is also the first day to register for the Tiny Art Show. Drop by and pick up a 3 in. x 3 in. canvas to create your masterpiece, while supplies last. You can also do a tiny sculpture, photo or digital artwork. You can also register and learn more online

4. TPD is seeking your help. Can you identify three white males wearing ski masks who broke into a home on Overlook Drive on Dec. 29? The suspects stole a black Mazda Miata with Massachusetts license plate RS3332. Check out the videos herehere and here

5. Food and toiletries drives are ongoing all month. Got extra pancake mix or guest toothbrushes you didn’t use? For January, you can get free admission to any Public Health Museum tour when you donate an item for the Tewksbury Community Pantry; see flyer below. Or drop food and toiletries at the Library for the pantry and Alternative House. You can also help survivors of domestic violence in other ways through the end of this month.

EXTRA: Get some movement in and help kids of all cognitive or physical ability levels by volunteering with Buddy Basketball, which is getting ready to kick off its 2024 season. Learn more here and register here.
