PHOTOS: Tewksbury Celebrates the Holiday Season

Local kids will benefit from toy drive

A little rain couldn’t keep hundreds of Tewksbury residents from coming out to ring in the season at the Annual Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting. Crowds gathered on the town common to to roast marshmallows on open fires, drink hot chocolate, listen to the Merrimack Valley Chorus and Girl Scouts sing carols, and participate in crafts and balloon art.

Participants also helped bring the spirit of the season to families in need, donating dozens of toys. Santa made a special guest appearance — arriving by fire truck — before heading over to the Tewksbury Congregational Church’s annual pie social.

The Wilmington/Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce sponsored this year’s ice sculpture, which also doubled as a photo booth.

State Representative Dave Robertson, town planner and event organizer Alex Lowder, and select board member Pat Holland get ready to roast marshmallows at the town’s Annual Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting. Lowder thanked the town manager’s office, fire and police departments, DPW, facilities department, and telemedia team for making the event possible.
