Weekend Briefs: Bloodmobile, EV Expo and Beep Ball Sponsors Needed

This Friday, Aug. 11 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., the Tewksbury Congregational Church is once again hosting a bloodmobile drive on behalf of Boston Children’s Hospital patients. Summer months are very challenging for maintaining a safe blood supply. The need for blood never takes a vacation, and every two seconds a person in the United States is in need of blood.

There are plenty of appointments available! just go to www.bostonchildrens.org/halfpints and enter drive code: CCTWKS.

Got An Hour? Mini Cleanup Saturday

Residents are invited to join the Tewksbury Beautification Committee for a one hour mini-cleanup event this Saturday, Aug. 12, from 9 – 10 a.m. The group will walk Shawsheen St. starting at Main St. Gloves and bags will be provided. Meet at Oakdale Plaza parking lot.

EV Expo Saturday

As a designated “Green Community,” the town of Tewksbury would like to share that Eco Auto, at 623 Main St., is hosting an electric vehicle expo on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Folks interested can register by clicking here.

Tewksbury received its Green Communities designation from the Department of Energy Resources on July 20, 2011. As a Green Community, Tewksbury welcomes opportunities to promote energy efficiency and improve the environment.

Beep Ball Match Seeks Sponsors

The Tewksbury Fire Department will once again take on the Boston Renegades in a match sponsored by the Tewksbury Lions Club, which works to empower blind Americans. The Lions are seeking sponsors — see below for an address or contact Jerry Selissen.

Lorna is a U.S. Army veteran and 25-year resident of Tewksbury who has written for organizations ranging from the DIA to InformationWeek to a free weekly in New London that sent her to interview the pastry chef at Foxwoods.
