Families can meet birds of prey on Tuesday afternoon

State Rep. Tram Nguyen holds virtual office hours on the first Friday of the month, from 10 – 11 a.m. Please sign up at least 24 hours ahead using this link. Monday, July 31

DJ Dance & Lunch
When: 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Where: Senior Center

The monthly luncheon dance is $8 per person. Tickets may be purchased at the door but may not include lunch, which is provided by AgeSpan’s Traveling Chef. This month it’s BBQ time with hamburgers, hot dogs and all the fixings.

Suffolk Mill Tour
When: 1 – 2:30
Where: Boott Cotton Mills Museum, Lowell

Join Lowell National Historical Park for a tour of the historic Suffolk Mill! This guided tour will take you through historic downtown Lowell and to the Suffolk Mill. Learn more

Teen Movie Monday: Soul
When: 3 – 4:45
Where: Library – Register

Enjoy snacks and a movie on the big screen as we watch Soul. Soul is rated PG and has a runtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes. This event is open to teens in grades 6-12 only. About the movie: Joe is a middle-school band teacher whose life hasn’t quite gone the way he expected. His true passion is jazz — and he’s good. But when he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it means to have soul. This program is supported by the Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library.

Wellness Day at Billerica Farmers Market
When: 3 – 7 p.m.
Where: 793 Boston Road

Farmers market features fresh produce, bakery items, and gourmet vendors. There will be reiki, chakra and crystal exhibit by Marie Tremblay of Reiki Marie. Free Pilates class at 6 p.m. with BYB hot yoga and Pilates (bring yoga Mat or towel and water). Please do NOT bring pets (even on leashes) to the market, per the Billerica Board of Health. Adult Craft Night
When: 7 – 8 p.m.
Where: Register

Enjoy making a craft while socializing with other adults. This month’s craft features making two coffee sleeves to take home. All craft supplies provided. Led by longtime crafter Rachelle Toth, host of the local access TV show “Crafts ‘n’ Stuff.” Register soon because the class is limited to 30 seats, with a 10-person waiting list. Sponsored by the Tewksbury Cultural Council and the Friends of the Library.

Veteran’s Coffee Social
When: 10 a.m.
Where: Bayberry

On the first Tuesday of the month, the social will be at Bayberry Assisted Living; the rest of the month it will be at the Senior center.

VIRTUAL: A Trip To Ireland’s Castles & Manors
When: 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Where: Register

Take an armchair travel trip to Ireland with world traveler Dan Zaiser, who loves sharing his exciting travel experiences with library audiences. After a day of traveling through the Irish countryside, stay at an old castle and historic country manor. Then visit the City of Dublin, Ring of Kerry, Rock of Cashel, the Irish Potato Famine Museum and Kylemore Abbey. And what trip to Ireland would be complete without a tour of the Guinness Brewery? 

Kids Performer: Wingmasters: Birds of Prey
When: 2 – 2:45 p.m.
Where: Library, no registration required

Every Tuesday, the library presents a different performer. This week’s guest is Wingmasters: Birds of Prey! Come to learn about and to observe several amazing birds of prey. This program is supported by a grant from the Tewksbury Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. This program is also supported by the Friends of the Tewksbury Library.

Lunch & Learn: Understanding Your Pet’s Body Language
When: noon – 1:30 p.m.
Where: Tyngsborough

The Greater Lowell Chamber proudly supports this event brought to you by The Beehive Co-working Community. This wonderful workshop, given by the Lowell Humane Society, brings live pets to help illustrate your pet’s body language and how you can interpret it to better understand and communicate with your furry friend. NMCOG Meeting
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Zoom or 40 Church St., Lowell

If you’re a fan of public transportation, this could be the group for you. NMCOG will review its Envision 2050 long-range transportation plan for Greater Lowell. The Zoom link is in the agenda.

Public Health Museum Campus Tours
When: 10 a.m.
Where: Tewksbury State Hospital

Indoor and outdoor tours of the Public Health Museum are offered during July and August. Learn more and sign up online.

VIRTUAL: Seed Saving with the Mass. Master Gardener Association
When: noon – 1 p.m.
Where: Zoom, Register

During this presentation we will talk about the reasons for saving your own seeds and learn some of the basic techniques for ensuring genetic purity. We will include discussions about the home garden plants from which seeds can be easily saved and stored for future use. Led by Gretel Anspach, a Trustee of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, a Lifetime Master Gardener with the Massachusetts Master Gardener Association. 

Rainbow Social
When: 12:30 p.m.

The monthly Rainbow Social, facilitated by Christina Hess and sponsored by AgeSpan, is a lunch and social gathering for LGBT+ folks and friends. This event had been taking place the third Thursday each month but in June changed to the first Thursday.

Family Fun Friday: Tie Dye Party
When: 11 a.m. – noon
Where: Library, no registration required

Every Friday morning this summer, there will be an awesome program for kids! This week, join us for a Tie Dye Party. Bring your own t-shirt, socks, pillowcase, or whatever else you’d like to tie dye and come to the library to create an awesome design! Please make sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting dye on. 

Film Screening: About My Father
When: 1:30 – 3:30

Enjoy a screening of one of Hollywood’s newest DVD releases — About My Father. When Sebastian tells his old-school Italian immigrant father Salvo that he is going to propose to his all-American girlfriend, Salvo insists on crashing a weekend with her tony parents. Starring Robert De Niro. Rated PG-13. 90 minutes. Comedy. Doors will open at 1:15pm. Candy & water will be served. A $1 donation is suggested.

Lorna is a U.S. Army veteran and 25-year resident of Tewksbury who has written for organizations ranging from the DIA to InformationWeek to a free weekly in New London that sent her to interview the pastry chef at Foxwoods.
