Fun reading challenges and exciting events all season long!
Join Tewksbury Public Library this summer for activities for all ages, including the return of the annual summer reading program. Activities begin Tuesday, June 20 and run through Friday, August 11.
Children (Preschool through Grade 5)
Preschool-age children are invited to join the Rubber Duckie Club this summer, where you track your reading and get a prize and raffle ticket for every ten duckies you color in.
Children entering kindergarten through grade five are invited to participate in Read to Bead, where you earn beads for all the time you read. Participants get a raffle ticket for every four hours they read and will be entered to win one of more than 50 prizes.
Forms are available at tewksburypl.org and in the Children’s Room. Event highlights for children include:
- Mondays: Tiny Tykes Storytime at 11 a.m., Maker Craft (ages 6-11) at 3 p.m.
- Tuesdays: Sprouts Storytime at 11 a.m., Performers at 2 p.m.
- Wednesdays: Sprouts Craft at 3 p.m., Lego Club (ages 6-11) or Family Game Night on a rotating basis at 6 p.m.
- Thursdays: Exploration Station (ages 2-6) or Fandom Fest (ages 7-12) on a rotating basis at 3 p.m.
- Fridays: Family Fun Fridays at 11 a.m., Pokémon Club 3 p.m.
Teens (Grades 6 through Grade 12)
The teen summer challenge is a way to help you discover new books, activities, content, and events over the summer. Anyone entering grades 6 through 12 in September 2023 who will be using the Tewksbury Public Library as their primary library can participate in the teen summer challenge.
Once you register for the challenge, you can start earning tickets! You earn 1 ticket for each day that you read and/or 1 ticket for each teen event you attend. Tickets can be entered into raffles for prizes including a PlayStation 5 console.

- K-Pop and Cake Pops on July 11 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.*
- Pokémon Terrariums on July 12 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.*
- Animal Adventures on July 25 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.*
- Build-a-Bot on August 9 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.*

Adults (Ages 18+)
Sign up for the adult summer reading program with Beanstack or a paper log. Log every day that you read this summer — no matter how much or how little, no matter what you read. Everyone who logs at least one day of reading between June 20 and August 11 will be entered to win one daily raffle prize, including gift certificates to Donna’s Donuts, La Vita Dolce, Tree House Brewing Company or Vic’s Waffle House.

Summer Kickoff
Join library staff and the Tewksbury Police Department on Friday, June 16 from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. as we celebrate the official start to summer on the last day of school with a Summer Reading Kickoff event at Livingston St. Park.
TPL will have crafts for kids and teens, a fun performance by Mr. Vinny the Bubble Guy, and a dunk tank! Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for the summer reading program as well. This event is for all ages, and there is no registration required to attend.
If you haven’t visited TPL in a while, summer is a great time to stop by! Summer hours begin Monday, June 26 and run through Sunday, September 3:
Monday – Wednesday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Thursday – Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
