Neighbor News: Cucina LaRosa’s Opening In Sight, Wedding Expo & Fishing Derby This Weekend

Here’s what’s happening in Wilmington, via the Apple

The Wilmington Select Board recently approved licenses for Cucina LaRosa’s, paving the way for the restaurant to open at its new location at the old Panera Bread location, inside the Wilmington Plaza.

The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus brunch on Sunday, and the owner anticipates opening the doors in the next six to eight weeks. Roof units were recently installed, and the plumbing work has begun. Read more

Wilmington’s Charles Rivers Labs awarded $1.47 million in incentives to create 97 new jobs. The award, provided through the MLSC’s Tax Incentive Program, are offered to companies engaged in life sciences research and development, commercialization, and manufacturing in Massachusetts, providing incentives to companies of all sizes looking to expand their efforts by creating new, long-term jobs in the state. Several Billerica companies also received awards. Read more

Know someone who is getting married? The Massachusetts Bridal & Wedding Expo is coming to Wilmington on Sunday, June 4, 2023, from noon to 5pm, at the Shriners Auditorium. The event features more than 100 exhibitors, covering all aspects of a wedding — gowns, florists, hair & makeup, honeymoon destinations, wedding and event planners, guest accommodations & hotels, photographers, videographers, DJs, bands, photo booths, decor & lighting, reception & wedding venues, tuxedos, jewelry and more.

The event also includes live music, demonstrations, fashion shows, and giveaways. The schedule is available HERE. Admission costs $10 at the door.  You can, however, register online and receive free admission HERE.  Children under 16 are free, as is parking.

Hooked on fishing? The Wilmington Recreation Department is sponsoring the 40th Annual Fishing Derby at Silver Lake on Saturday, June 3. This multigenerational event for youth and non-professional adults began in 1983. The Derby allows the Town to showcase its finest natural resource while participants have a chance to learn or improve their fishing skills. The Derby will run from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Town Beach. Participants must register in the Bath House. Prizes will be awarded to contest winners in the youth categories.

The cost to participate in the Derby is $5 for those ages 18 and over, and $2 for anyone age 17 and under. Worms will be available for purchase. There will be shore fishing only – no boats. No fishing license is required for this event only. Rain date is Sunday, June 4. Read more
