What to Know In Tewksbury the Week of Nov. 21

Shout out to the Tewksbury High School girls volleyball team, which defeated Dennis-Yarmouth to clinch the Division III state championship title.

In case you haven’t heard, the Tewksbury Starbucks is finally open, and initial reports are positive. To work off your peppermint mocha, head out to the Tewksbury Winter Tree Walk. About 20 local groups have decorated trees and other objects in nature along the Chandler Well Field, Pinnacle and Rogers Park trails. Viewing officially begins on Friday and runs through the beginning of January, but most groups have completed their displays. 

Monday, Nov. 21

Tewksbury Housing Authority
When: 4 p.m.
Where: Saunders Circle Community Building

In its regular meeting, the Housing Authority will discuss vacancies in town housing, among other matters. Agenda

Advice From Horror Author & Editor Tony Tremblay

Each meeting  features a guest speaker, typically a published author or editor, offering tips of the trade. The November 2022 guest speaker is Tony Tremblay. Tremblay is the author of the novel The Moore House, which was a finalist for the Bram Stoker award.

Shawsheen Tech School Committee
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Shawsheen Tech or YouTube

The Shawsheen Tech School Committee will hear updates from the business manager and superintendent and discuss an update of the school’s admissions policy. Agenda  

Select Board
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Town Hall or catch the meeting on Tewksbury TV or Comcast (99) or Verizon (33)

The main item for the Select Board is setting the residential/commercial tax shift, which was set at 1.59 for FY22. Last year, homeowners saw an average hike of $282 based on a 5% year-over-year jump in value for an average single-family home. The Board will also discuss marijuana regulations. Agenda

Senior Center Men’s Group

Where: Senior Center

The monthly men’s group meets at the Senior Center.

Black Friday Mini Craft Fair
When: noon – 4 p.m.
Where: Open Space Gift Shop

In addition to the shop’s 60 regular crafters, there will be seven makers on site.

27th Annual Castleberry Faire
When: Friday – Sunday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: Shriners Auditorium
