Garden Club Gala Returns to TCC, Residents Invited to Kick Off the Season

These aren’t $300 arrangements from an exclusive Boston florist. They were created on stage at the Tewksbury Country Club as part of a pre-Covid annual Garden Club Gala.

This event is a major fundraiser for the Club, whose handiwork you see all over town, from the lilies outside the Library to the arrangements that adorn Town Hall to the landscaping outside the buildings where our first responders work. If your child brought home a sapling for Arbor Day, it came from the Garden Club.

“This is the first year back at the Country Club since Covid shut the world down,” said organizer Cheryl Petrola. “It is also, potentially, our last year at the TCC due to the sale.”

This has long been a popular event with area residents, friends, businesses and Garden Club members from the Greater Lowell area.

The evening centers around a floral demonstration by a renowned floral designer, who teaches attendees how to make their own stunning arrangements. This year’s guest designer is Kathy Leva. Leva is very well known in Garden Club circles and is nationally recognized. Her demonstration will feature arrangements home designers will be able to draw inspiration from to decorate their holiday homes and tables.

Along with the floral demonstration, there will be a raffle of 24 beautiful gift baskets, created by Garden Club members. Each basket is theme-based and won’t disappoint! Chances for a 50/50 cash drawing will also be available, said Petrola.

Those who attend will also have a chance to go home with one of the floral pieces designed by Leva.

A spectacular array of desserts and pastries along with coffee and tea will satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth. Desserts are provided by the Garden Club members. There will be a cash bar, and the Carnation team will be in the audience hoping to see our favorite bloom used in the arrangements.

Tickets are $25. Those interested can purchase a ticket from any Garden Club member; email the club at tewksburygardenclub@gmail.com to have a ticket placed in an envelope at “will call” — you can pay that night by cash, check or credit card; or purchase at the door, if space allows.

For tickets and more information contact Petrola or Rose O’Neill at tewksburygardenclub@gmail.com.
