Town Schedules Affordable Housing Workshop, Invites Resident Participation

Residents are invited to the town’s first Affordable Housing Workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Tewksbury Public Library. The town will share initial findings and gather input for the Town of Tewksbury Housing Production Plan for 2022-26.

Tewksbury is working with the Northern Middlesex Council of Governments (NMCOG) to update its Housing Production Plan, which guides the Town’s decisions on how to support affordable housing, what kinds of housing development or redevelopment the Town hopes to create and how the Town and its partners can work toward making sure all kinds of families and people can afford homes that meet their needs.

At the workshop, the NMCOG housing planning team will present key town housing data, findings and trends. Participants will then break into small groups to discuss the findings, help develop housing goals and create a vision for equitable, affordable housing in Tewksbury.

The Town of Tewksbury Housing Production Plan for 2022-2026 aims to compliment and build upon the Tewksbury Master Plan 2016. It serves as a framework for considering Comprehensive Permit projects, zoning changes, Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF) expenditures, Community Preservation Act (CPA) fund expenditures and other actions the Town and its partners can undertake to increase the supply of affordable housing.

The project is supported by a NMCOG District Local Technical Assistance grant funded by the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). Registration is not required.
