Shawsheen Tech Student-Run Dining Room Opens Tomorrow

The Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management program at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School will open its guest dining room to the public on September 14. The Ram’s Head Dining Room is a student-run service that provides seated lunch service or curbside pickup to anyone in the community.

The dining room will be open for lunch Wednesday-Friday when school is in session, with seat times at 11:30 am and 11:45 am. To make a reservation or place an order, please call 978-671-3668.

The Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management program teaches students food preparation, food service management, dining room service, event planning, entrepreneurship and much more.

Lead teacher Joe Williams shared, “we are looking forward to opening the Guest Dining Room with the pandemic behind us, so we can train our students for a successful and lucrative career in the hospitality industry.” Teacher Ilda Pepler elaborated, “the guest dining room integrates many aspects of our curriculum together in real-time for our students; it is a great learning experience for them.”

The lunch menu generally consists of options for a three-course meal consisting of a choice of soup or salad, an entrée and a dessert, at an affordable price. Menus and special events can be found at www.ShawsheenTech.org/GuestDining.

In addition to the dining room, Shawsheen Tech has public student-run services in the automotive shop, graphic communications print center and cosmetology salon. Community members are encouraged to visit campus during the school day to utilize these services; they provide authentic learning experiences for students and are a staple for vocational schools.
