What to Know This Week in Tewksbury

Tewksbury’s Community Concert series takes a break this week after a big crowd Friday night for Beatles tribute band 4EverFab. Concerts on the Library back lawn resume Monday, August 8 with the ultimate tribute to Rod Stewart.

New on the town website is a voter options guide from town clerk Denise Graffeo that provides everything residents need to know to take part in Fall 2022 elections, which kick off Sept. 6 with primaries. If you’re not registered and wish to take part in that election, the deadline to register is August 27.

Monday, August 1

In Person Tween Movie: Jumanji (Grades 5-7)
When: 3 p.m.
Where: Meeting Room, Tewksbury Public Library

Go on a retro adventure with the original 1995 Jumanji movie! Hang out, watch Jumanji, and enjoy some snacks. This event is for teens in grades 5-7. Please register below for this in person movie. The run time for Jumanji is  1 hour and 40 minutes. It is rated PG. REGISTER HERE.

Tuesday, August 2

Kids Performer: Circus Minimus!
When: 2 – 3 p.m.
Where: Meeting Room, Tewksbury Public Library

Every Tuesday, we will have a different performer, just for you! This week, we will be joined by Circus Minimus! Circus Minimus will bring the joy, community and connection of the circus right here to us in Tewksbury. This program is supported by a grant from the Tewksbury Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. This program is also supported by the Friends of the Tewksbury Library.

Finance Committee
When: 4:30
Where: Virtual

The Finance Committee will meet to interview a candidate to fill an open seat resulting from Rich Russo’s election to the School Committee, then appoint and reappoint members. AGENDA

Historical Commission
When: 6:30
Where: Town Hall

The Historical Commission is charged with the “preservation, protection, and development of the historical or archaeological assets” of the town of Tewksbury. A bylaw review is among other items on the agenda. 

Wednesday, August 3

Select Board
When: 6 p.m.
Where: Town Hall or catch the meeting on Tewksbury TV or Comcast (99) or Verizon (33)

The Select Board gathers on Wednesday for a goal-setting session where the Board will discuss objectives for the coming months. AGENDA

Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library Monthly Meeting
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Library meeting room

All are welcome at the monthly meeting of the fabulous Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library.  The Friends is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the cultural life of our community through activities at our library. Thursday, August 4

Introduction to Viking Knit Jewelry Workshop
When: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Where: Open Space Gift Shop & Creative Studio 

Learn the art of Viking knit! Participants will make their own three-inch length of Viking knit chain, then have the option to make it into an accessory of their choice. Instructor: Amy of Benzene Hexes. Advance registration required. Workshops may run longer or finish sooner than the times scheduled. Workshop is 21+. Learn more and register.

Girl Scouts Virtual Adult Info Session
When: 8 p.m.
Where: Virtual

Adults and caregivers are invited to attend a virtual Adult Info Session to learn more about Girl Scouting, and how both youth and adults can get involved. Multiple dates are available. Learn more.

Friday, August 5

Family Fun Friday: Tie Dye
When: 11 a.m. – noon
Where: Library

Please bring your own t-shirt to dye, and wear old clothes. We will be getting messy! No registration required.

Weekend

Show ‘n Shine Car Show
When: Sunday, August 7, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Where: Anheuser-Busch brewery, Merrimack N.H.

Car lovers take note: Whether rain or shine, auto enthusiasts from all over will come display hundreds of classic, dragster and muscle cars in the 49th Annual Show N’ Shine to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Learn more.

2022 Boston Seafood Festival
When: Sunday, August 7, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Where: Boston Fish Pier

Lobster lovers may prefer to drive south for a a full day event focusing on great seafood, entertainment and celebrating Boston’s rich fishing tradition. The event includes demos from renowned chefs, an oyster shucking contest, a Harpoon beer garden, kids activities and more.
